A dress and the sea
I hope you all are doing great and you’re having a nice week so far.
Not like I am feeling homesick. But I must confess, with the glorious weather we’ve had in London for the past few days I found myself using the words “seaside”, “beach” and “Spain” rather frequently over the past 48 hours.
It was yesterday, while I was wearing this very summery dress, that I became aware of this fact. I couldn’t help but remember the last time I wore this floral silk piece in Spain, during my last summer holidays.
I believe some -not to say most- of the clothes I have in my closet keep a story and a memory behind: the outfit I wore perhaps when I first met a special someone, the outfit I wore on my latest job interview, the outfit I picked to see my favourite band… I believe every piece has a story from the moment we buy it, just as described in “About a girl”, by Lindsey Kelk. Our clothes also carry memories.
This very dress reminds me of life pauses. Every time I am in need to run away from the world, I take a flight to Spain or Morocco just to sit near the seaside and minimize everything that could possible make me feel bad. I’m not sure whether it’s the touch of the sand, the sound of the waves or the intense blue colours of the water, but it works wonders.
What were you wearing on your happiest day?
Don’t be shy and drop me a message. I would love to know.
Thanks to Vanesa and Jefreey for the photos and also to Javier for the editing.
